In a recent VSP provider survey,* eye care professionals (ECP) were asked for their opinions on SunSync Drive XT, the light-reactive lenses that get darker outdoors and stay dark in the car. From ECP experience to patient satisfaction, SunSync’s extra reactive lenses earned high marks among industry pros.

I just asked my optical shop about ordering sun sync drive XT and they insisted I didn't need it for the car and I just require polarized sunglasses. I especially need sunglasses for anti-glare and to have them transition depending on intensity of light is a bonus for me. Please let me know if the shop is correct or not. Thank you.

Hi Lindy,

Thanks for your comment and your interest in SunSync Drive XT.

If you need to wear prescription glasses when you drive, then a dedicated pair of prescription polarized lenses such as Unity Polarized will provide a more comprehensive visual solution.

However, before selecting a dedicated pair of prescription sunglasses, the things you might want to consider include the amount of time you spend behind the wheel or outdoors, and the intensity of sunlight when you’re driving.

If you’re not on the road all day or would prefer the convenience of a single pair of glasses for indoors and outdoors that will give you some tint in the car then SunSync Drive XT is a great option.

Our biggest recommendation is that you discuss all your visual needs with your VSP Provider, including solutions for any sensitivity you might have to bright sunlight or changes in your vision.

Have a great day,
